Mission Visa in the UAE

A Mission Visa is designed for professionals working on short-term projects with companies in the UAE.

This visa allows individuals from other countries to enter the UAE specifically for these temporary assignments. Initially, the UAE company applies for a quota to obtain this visa for a particular role. After the company secures the quota, the worker, who must be located outside the UAE, submits required documents, including their passport. Once the application is processed and approved, the company sends the visa to the worker, who can then travel to the UAE and commence work on their designated project. A Labor Card is also required to ensure legal employment in the country. If the worker needs to return for another project, they must apply for a new Mission Visa.

Validity

Validity of the Mission Visa

The Mission Visa permits a single entry into the UAE and is valid for 90 days (three months). Should the worker leave the country before the visa expires, the visa becomes void. To re-enter the UAE, a new Mission Visa application must be submitted.
Transitioning

Transitioning to a Residence Visa

While on a Mission Visa, it is not possible to apply for a residence visa. The current Mission Visa must be canceled, which can only occur after the holder exits the UAE.
Essentials

Application Process for a UAE Mission Visa

  • Company Application: The process begins when the UAE company requests a Mission Visa quota from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).

  • Quota Approval and Document Collection: After the quota is approved, the company collects necessary documents from the employee.

  • Visa Application Submission: The company submits the employee’s visa application and supporting documents to the immigration authorities.

  • Visa Approval Waiting Period: Authorities review the application, which can take several weeks.

  • Visa Issuance and Travel: Once approved, the company receives the Mission Visa and sends it to the employee, allowing them to travel to the UAE.

  • Labor Card and Health Check: Upon arrival in the UAE, the employee and the company apply for a Labor Card, which may require a health examination.

  • Residence Permit Application: The company then applies for a residence permit, ensuring the employee’s legal status in the UAE.
